About The Uncle

Em Kirby, AKA Uncle Emmington, is a 21-year-old singer-songwriter from Daphne, Alabama. A writer and poet from a young age, she studied piano and flute before finding her true loves: the guitar and ukulele. Em writes indie folk-pop ditties and memorable acoustic melodies based on her very personal -- yet highly relatable -- experience of the world. Her latest album, "Alphabet Soup," an eclectic mix of all-original songs, is available on Spotify and other major streaming platforms. It's received over 11,000 streams. Her first album, "Unoriginal," also available on all major streaming platforms, has received over 15,000 streams on Spotify.

PAST PERFORMANCES

Prior to her recent move to Huntsville to attend the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Uncle Emmington regularly performed her original music at the Lupercalia Art Society during Mobile's monthly ArtWalk event.

In May 2021, she performed an intimate, one-woman show at The Peoples Room of Mobile, entertaining her enthusiastic audience with a mix of favorites from her debut album, "Unoriginal," and the fresh, revelatory new music she had been recording for her newly released album, "Alphabet Soup."

Uncle Emmington also appeared on FOX10 News twice, the first time to perform the song "Mark in My Heart," from her "Alphabet Soup" album, and the second to perform "Writers are Cruel", also from "Alphabet Soup", and to promote her March show at The Peoples Room of Mobile.

Her one-woman show at The Peoples Room of Mobile on March 19, 2022, showcased her "Alphabet Soup" album tunes, but also included fan favorites from "Unoriginal," by Em and several new songs she had written in recent months.

Uncle Emmington performed tunes from her two albums as well as a number of unreleased songs, at Mallory Square during the nightly Key West Sunset Celebration on May 5 and May 6, 2022.

In September 2022, she played two shows as part of Huntsville's Women in Music Weekend festival. In December 2022, Uncle Emmington played at the Lowe Mill ARTS and Entertainment's Yule Y'all Christmas Market.

On April 30th, 2023, Uncle Emmington performed at the Panoply Arts Festival in Huntsville, Alabama.
